Sweet & Savory “Beef Candy”

Sweet & Savory “Beef Candy” (Leftover Roast Edition)

Think jerky meets burnt ends… sticky, crispy, irresistible

What You Need:

  • 2–3 cups leftover beef roast (sliced into thin strips or small chunks)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey

  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes (for a little kick)

How to Make It:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (low and slow is key)

  2. Slice your beef

    • Thin strips = more jerky-style

    • Small chunks = more burnt-end style

  3. Mix your glaze

    • Brown sugar + soy sauce + maple/honey + butter + seasonings

  4. Toss beef in the mixture

    • Make sure everything is well coated (not swimming, just coated)

  5. Lay on a baking sheet

    • Use parchment paper or foil

    • Spread pieces out (don’t pile them)

  6. Bake for 20–30 minutes

    • Flip halfway through

    • Watch for edges getting sticky + slightly crisp

👉 You’re looking for caramelized, not burnt

What You’ll Get:

  • Sticky edges

  • Slight chew like jerky

  • Sweet + salty + savory combo

👉 It hits ALL the flavor buttons

HOW TO SERVE IT (This is where it shines)

1. Appetizer Board (BIG WIN for gatherings)

  • Pile it on a wooden board

  • Add toothpicks

  • Serve with:

    • Pickles

    • Cheese cubes

    • Crackers

👉 It becomes a “grab one… then five more” situation

2. Over Rice Bowls

  • Serve over white or fried rice

  • Add:

    • Green onions

    • Sesame seeds

    • Fried egg

🔥 Turns into an easy, takeout-style meal

3. Loaded Potato Topper

  • Spoon over a baked potato

  • Add sour cream + cheese

👉 Sweet + savory over that creamy potato = unreal

4. Salad Upgrade (sounds weird… works AMAZING)

  • Toss onto a simple salad

  • Use a light vinaigrette

👉 The sweetness of the beef replaces croutons

5. Sweet Heat Tacos

  • Add to tortillas

  • Top with:

    • Slaw

    • Lime

    • Jalapeños

🔥 Totally different taco experience

Pro Tips :

  • The thinner the slice → the crispier it gets

  • If it starts drying out → brush lightly with extra glaze

  • Want more “burnt end” feel? Finish under broil for 1–2 minutes

  • Add in some asparagus tops or brussel sprouts with the sweet glaze for a quick side
