If you’ve got beef in the fridge and cabbage on the counter, dinner’s already halfway done. This one-pan ground beef and cabbage recipe is simple, budget-friendly, and built for busy days. No fancy ingredients — just real food that fills you up and keeps everyone satisfied.
Ground Beef & Cabbage Skillet

Ingredients
1 small cabbage, chopped
1 lb ground beef
1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 cup chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon bouillon powder
½ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
½–1 cup water (if needed)
InstructionS
Step 1: Brown the Beef
In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat:
Cook ground beef until browned.
Break it apart as it cooks.
Drain excess grease if needed.
Step 2: Add Onion & Garlic
Stir in chopped onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 3: Add Tomatoes & Sauce
Stir in diced tomatoes (with juice).
Add tomato sauce and bouillon powder.
Mix well to combine.
Step 4: Add Cabbage
Add chopped cabbage and stir everything together.
Cover and cook on medium-low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender.
If mixture gets too thick, add ½–1 cup water and continue simmering.
Step 5: Simmer & Serve
Remove lid and simmer 5 more minutes to thicken slightly.
Serve hot as-is or over:
• White or brown rice
• Mashed potatoes
• Egg noodles
• Or with crusty bread
